For outright free I would look towards Video Spin or Jump Cut. I think that's your best options there.
If you can afford a cheaper solution then look for AVS Video Editor (free to try but is $50 otherwise), Sony Vegas Movie Studio ($55-$500 depending on the version you buy), or Adobe Premiere Elements ($140). I think those would offer you overall more robust feature sets to work with in the long run. But if you're going to be actively creating videos it may be well worth the investment.
