What are some characteristics of music for superhero movies?

I have to give a presentation for my music class on music for superhero movies, so I have been listening to superhero theme songs, and researching the topic, but since I really don't know much about music its hard for me to define what I'm listening to and I cant find an article specifically saying what are typical characteristics of this type of music. I would really appreciate any help.
